There was a scheduling error at our new location, and we weren’t the first event on the schedule. We tried to work something out there and within the town of Yountville, but we could find no good solution at such a late date. You see, we want EVERYONE to come to the Think Green-World Music Festival! So, we need enough space to fit thousands of people, many vendors and two stages. We want to keep the festival in Napa County, but our locations for holding an event of this size is limited here. We are going to do everything possible to keep it here, and we can use the community’s help to do it.

An event by the people and for the people.
The idea for this event was conjured up by a couple in their off time. John’s a graphic designer and Jeni’s an event planner, and together we are ROAR Design and Events. We decided that we could put on a worthwhile event together using our professional skills and personal experiences. John’s been in the biz for over 15 years, and over recent years has been very involved in the greening of his industry, as well as participating in local sustainability efforts. Jeni is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), with expertise managing events from international locations to the Bay Area. She’s also a world traveler, having backpacked through places like Indonesia and the Mediterranean. So you can see, the idea for the festival came naturally to us.

Any event we did had to be music oriented. Music has such energy! It inspires and brings people together. Since we love reggae and other world beats, and don’t get many affordable options to experience that here, we chose the world music genre for entertainment. We also did not want to put on a large festival without properly managing the waste from it, so we decided to aim for a “zero waste” event. We are proud to say that since our first year in 2007, we have achieved at least a 94% divergence rate. We would like to thank our sponsor and friend Tim at Napa Recycling and Waste for helping us to achieve this milestone.

We want to thank all of our green-minded sponsors and exhibitors who have been with us for the first two years. Their participation – along with our workshop presenters and eco-kids area participators – inspire our attendees just by being there, allowing them to see what people are doing to make a difference in our world. Those who came in to participate this year were the Yountville Chamber of Commerce, Affinity Solar Energy, Central Valley Builders Supply, Napa Recycling and Waste Services, Upper Valley Disposal Recycling, Napa Valley Marketplace, The Bohemian, The Vine and KVON, and our production partner MLA Events.

To our attendees and volunteers, we hope you walk away from our festival feeling empowered by the environmental action and education that takes place, and uplifted by the creative energy you experience. We want to continue to expanding our program and keep it affordable for everyone. We’re looking at making it a multiple day festival for 2010, with double the music, double the workshops and double the exhibitors!
